Taylor Dance performs lauded ‘Rainforest’

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

The David Taylor Dance Theatre will present its acclaimed “Children’s Rainforest Odyssey” as part of a program Tuesday in Coeur d’Alene.

The elaborately costumed “Rainforest” features four episodes: “The Rainforest Floor” (stamen and leafcutters), “The Understory” (creatures and flowers), “The Canopy” (tropical birds) and “Native Peoples” (the hunt).

The Colorado-based company will also perform three other ballets: “Faure,” a romantic dance set to the music of Gabriel Faure; “Great Spangled Fritillary,” based on a sacred Indian dance style; and the tango-based “Viborita,” or “Little Viper.”

The concert begins Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at North Idaho College’s Schuler Auditorium. Tickets are $22.50 for adults, $17.50 for students and seniors, through the NIC box office, (208) 769-7780.
