In brief: Suspect arrested in home invasion

The Spokesman-Review

A Spokane man was in jail Thursday on three charges stemming from a home invasion robbery in a West Central neighborhood early Saturday.

Spokane police said they believe Michael D. Carell, 22, was part of a group of people who entered a home and beat a man, threatening to kill him with rifle.

The victim told police that Carell, Stafone Nicholas Fuentes, and two others entered the home and Carell asked, “Who jumped my cousin?”

The victim answered, “Why are you in my house?” Carell then attacked the victim, punching him, according to court documents.

The victim tried to run into a bedroom to get a rifle, but the suspects allegedly took the gun away and threatened to shoot the victim and other people living in the house.

Police arrested Carell on Wednesday, and he was in jail Thursday night on a $250,000 bond.

He and Fuentes face second-degree assault charges, as well as first-degree robbery and burglary charges.

Fuentes has not yet been arrested.

Man accused of child molesting

A 22-year-old man faces multiple counts of child molestation and rape after he admitted the crimes in a police interview, according to court documents.

Derrick L. Wilson, of Medical Lake, was booked on three counts of child rape and seven counts of child molestation Wednesday evening.

According to court records, Wilson told investigators he sexually abused two children, a 4-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, at least 10 times.

The victims’ mother told police that she had caught Wilson with the children at various times.

Man charged with assault

A man accused of threatening a customer walking out of a Rite-Aid on North Division was in jail Thursday night.

George J. Wallace, 62, was parked in a red Honda Civic at the front of the Rite-Aid store when a customer walked outside, according to court records.

The customer told police that Wallace swore at him as he walked by, flipped him off, and then pulled out a pistol and pointed it at him.

Police arrived and found Wallace walking out of the Rite-Aid. According to court records, Wallace told officers he had pointed a gun at the customer.

Wallace was booked into Spokane County Jail early Thursday and faces a first-degree assault charge.
