William Cornwell went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored as Ferris topped host Central Valley 5-4 Thursday in Greater Spokane League action.

The Bears (3-4) scored all of their runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Andrew Kittredge picked up the win for the Saxons (4-0) after striking out 11 in 6 1/3 innings.

Elsewhere in the GSL, University scored seven runs in the sixth and coasted to an 11-3 win over visiting Lewis and Clark (1-5). Billy Moon (2-0) picked up the win for the Titans (3-2), allowing five hits and three runs while striking out 10 in the complete game. U-Hi’s Aaron LaPlante set the tone, hitting a two-run home run in the first. LaPlante finished 2 for 3 with four RBIs. … Ryan Shontell had two hits, including a two-run home run in the fifth, and drove in four runs as Shadle Park (3-4) beat host East Valley (2-5) 15-11. Cam Baker added three hits, three RBIs and three runs for the Highlanders. … Connor Moore went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs as Mead topped host Gonzaga Prep (2-5) 15-5 in six innings. The Panthers (4-1) scored six runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead 9-0. David Hennessey picked up the win for Mead. … Mt. Spokane scored 10 runs in the sixth and cruised to an 18-2 win over host North Central (4-3). Niko Sotolongo went 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Nic Fowler picked up the win for the Wildcats (6-1).

“Senior Brandon Haas allowed two runs on six hits while striking out seven in the complete game and host Post Falls held on to beat Lake City 3-2 in the Inland Empire League. The Trojans (5-5, 2-3) scored two runs in the second inning to go ahead 3-0. Chris Combo pitched four scoreless innings in relief for the Timberwolves (5-3, 1-2).

Echo Abramson’s two-run double in the bottom of the eighth gave East Valley (3-4) a 15-14 win over visiting Rogers in the Greater Spokane League. The Pirates’ Ashley Partridge hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth to put Rogers up 14-11 before Abramson’s blast ended the game. Abramson (2-4) finished 4 for 5 with four RBIs and also picked up the win. … Elsewhere in the GSL, Taylor Backman threw her second no-hitter of the season as North Central blanked visiting Ferris (0-7) 5-0. Jenny Darcy led the Indians (6-1) with three hits and Kelsie Vallies hit a solo homer in the fifth. Backman, who struck out eight in the complete game, improved her record to 2-0. … Sam Skillingstad allowed one hit and no runs while striking out 12 as Shadle Park coasted to an 18-0 win over visiting Lewis and Clark (0-8) in five innings. Allie Burger provided the big hit for the Highlanders (7-0), a grand slam in the third. Skillingstad improved to 7-0. … Alyssa Hawley went 3 for 5 with seven RBIs and three runs scored as University blanked visiting Mt. Spokane (3-4) 22-0. Hawley hit a grand slam in the Titans’ 14-run second.
