Pirates 3, Cubs 2: At Pittsburgh, Jason Bay hit a one-out homer in the eighth, an inning after the Pirates tied it on Ronny Paulino’s double, and Pittsburgh came back from two runs down to beat Chicago.
Braves 5, Phillies 2: At Atlanta, Andruw Jones had a three-run homer in the ninth inning giving the Braves a win over Philadelphia. Tim Hudson allowed only four hits in eight innings though he didn’t get a decision for Atlanta.
Marlins 9, Mets 6: At New York, Hanley Ramirez homered, Miguel Cabrera drove in two runs and Florida beat the Mets. Alfredo Amezaga also connected and Josh Willingham had a two-run single during the Marlins’ five-run rally in the third inning.
Brewers 7, Cardinals 1: At Milwaukee, Jeff Suppan pitched his first complete game in nearly four years to lead the Brewers to victory. In winning his fourth consecutive start, Suppan scattered eight hits and walked only one.
Nationals 3, Padres 2: At San Diego, John Patterson allowed one run in six innings to get his first win in more than a year, leading Washington over the Padres. Austin Kearns and Kory Casto each drove in runs for the Nationals.
Diamondbacks 9, Dodgers 1: At Los Angeles, Brandon Webb allowed one run over seven innings, Chris Young hit a pair of solo homers, and Arizona routed the Dodgers for its sixth straight victory.
Giants 9, Rockies 5: At San Francisco, Pedro Feliz hit a three-run homer as the Giants beat Colorado. Rich Aurilia hit two doubles for San Francisco.
