Astros 7, Reds 6: At Cincinnati, Lance Berkman’s second home run in two nights overshadowed the 568th of Ken Griffey Jr.’s career and lifted Houston to a win over the Reds.
Brewers 6, Nationals 4: At Milwaukee, Prince Fielder hit a three-run homer, J.J. Hardy homered and extended his hitting streak to 19 games and the red-hot Brewers beat Washington.
Cardinals 4, Rockies 1: At St. Louis, pinch hitter Scott Spiezio and Adam Kennedy drove in two runs each in a four-run seventh inning, giving the punchless Cardinals their best offensive output in 10 games in a victory over Colorado.
Diamondbacks 3, Phillies 2: At Phoenix, Eric Byrnes and Tony Clark hit home runs that traveled a combined 930 feet, and Arizona defeated Philadelphia.
Mets 4, Giants 1: At San Francisco, Tom Glavine won his 294th game – despite allowing Barry Bonds’ 745th home run – and New York beat the Giants.
Pirates 4, Cubs 3 (15): At Chicago, Jack Wilson hit his first sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to tie the game then hit a second one with the bases loaded in the 15th to give Pittsburgh a victory over the Cubs.
