Second Harvest Inland Northwest- Letter Carrier’s Food Drive – Volunteers are needed to lift full grocery bags into totes at various sites Saturday. Thirty drivers with spotters also are needed to pick up bags of groceries throughout postal routes and deliver them to collection sites. Maps will be provided. Second Harvest Inland Northwest- Take a Bite Out of Hunger – Volunteers are needed for set-up, check-in, organizing the staging area and hanging signs, auction assistance, vendor support, busing tables and clean-up Tuesday. Contact Julie Nesbitt at jnesbitt@2-harvest.org.

Community Frameworks – Join in the celebration of National NeighborWorks Week June 9. This year’s local project will focus on Pioneer Park Place, a workforce affordable condominium development at 424 W. Seventh Ave. Volunteer activities include loading items out of the building on to trucks, preparing the outside of the building for presentation an setting up. Camp Gifford Benefit Golf Tournament – Volunteers are needed to assist at the Salvation Army’s Women’s Annual Camp Gifford Golf Classic. Meet at the Indian Canyon Golf Course, 4304 W. West Drive June 20. Contact Christy Markham at 329-2732.

Hoopfest – Volunteers are needed to assist in the sponsor garden, merchandise tent and contest courts June 30 through July 1 in downtown Spokane. Contact Chad Smith at 624-2414.

Catholic Charities – Meet like-minded people, help others and more. Contact Regan at 325-7667.

Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery – a volunteer receptionist is needed to answer phones, distribute diapers/formula to clients and complete various projects for the administrative staff. This commitment would entail a four-hour shift during regular business hours on a weekly basis. All applicants will be interviewed and must pass a background check. This is a multi-tasking position with some clerical/computer experience required. Contact Kristine Ruggles at 535-3155.

West Central Community Center – A volunteer youth development specialist is needed to mentor and teach news skills, hobbies or sports to children. Volunteers must pass a background check. Contact Rick Harris at 323-7501.

Southside Senior Activity Center – Volunteers are needed to help with maintaining the grounds at the center. General gardening and landscaping work is needed once or twice a month. Volunteers also are needed to assist the facility manager with miscellaneous tasks. Training will be provided. Contact Beth Alcorn at 535-0803.

Friends of the Moran Prairie Library – Volunteers are needed to help prepare for the June book sale and fundraiser. A variety of skills and talents are needed. Also, members of the community, authors, educators and professionals are invited to speak, or present programs on a monthly basis in the library. Contact Jan Woodward at 893-8340.

The Campus Kitchen – Volunteers are needed for this Gonzaga University program to prepare and deliver meals to low-income residents. Contact Rebecca Teichmann at 323-6939.

The Center for Justice – A volunteer receptionist is needed to staff the front desk from 1-5 p.m. Contact Rosie Ennis at 835-5211.

Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest – Retail and production assistant volunteers are needed to assist with stocking, merchandising and customer service. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Background check and application required. Contact Nichole Bogarosh at 344-0161.

Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington – Volunteers are needed to work on the Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors Helpline. A three-day training is provided by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. Contact Leslie Noll at 458-2509.

Eastern Washington Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing – Energetic individuals with good business sense or experiences are needed to volunteer on the board of directors. Contact Char Parsley at 328-9220.

Spokane Valley Partners (formerly Spokane Valley Community Center and Food Bank) – Volunteers are needed to greet and check-in patrons at the clothing bank on Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Some computer skills are helpful but not required. Training will be provided; a six-month commitment is requested. Contact Sharon Hengy at 927-1153.

Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest – Volunteers are needed for the Mentoring Children of Promise program which helps to empower children and youth of incarcerated parents in Eastern Washington. Volunteers/mentors must commit to a period of at least one year. Mentors must be at least 18 and pass a criminal background check. Contact Amanda Guthmueller at 838-4281.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service – Volunteers are needed to assist consumers experiencing financial hardship. This is a part-time position, no more than 20 hours per week are needed. Candidate must be analytically minded, enjoy working with people and have strong interpersonal skills. On-the-job training will be provided. Contact Mark Harnishfeger at 242-4222.

OCEAN (Organization for Cultural Exchange Among Nations) – Host families are needed for international students scheduled to arrive in August. Students are enrolled from more than 55 countries and are registered in area high schools for either a semester or full academic year. All students are proficient in English and have been screened for academic achievement, character and maturity. Contact Timothy Coyle at 939-3424.

Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs – Military veterans and their families are needed for habitat conservation. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in valuable work through the Veterans Conservation Corps while contributing to the community and earning valuable job skills in the environmental field. Children’s Benefit Dinner and Auction – Volunteers are needed to assist with the Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary’s Children’s Benefit Dinner and Auction, June 19 at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, 303 W. North River Drive. Event will include live and silent auctions, gift baskets, games, prizes and entertainment. Contact Christy Markham at 329-2732.

SIDS Foundation of Washington – Volunteers are needed to help with the 25th Annual Fallen Leaf Run Oct. 7 at Mirabeau Point Park in the Spokane Valley. Volunteers will receive a Fallen Leaf Run water bottle, a free raffle entry and refreshments. Call the SIDS office at 456-0505.
