Monday’s results
Angels 7, Rangers 2: At Arlington, Texas, Angels starter Jered Weaver gave up six hits in his longest outing of the season. In seven innings, he walked two, struck out five and threw 57 of 87 pitches for strikes and Los Angeles went on to beat Texas. Brad Wilkerson hit a solo homer for Texas in the ninth off Darren Oliver.
Blue Jays 5, Orioles 3: At Toronto, Troy Glaus hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning and the Blue Jays rallied for a victory over Baltimore. Frank Thomas drew a one-out walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Jason Smith before Glaus homered off Danys Baez.
Red Sox 7, Tigers 1: At Boston, Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched his first major league complete game and the Red Sox earned a win over Detroit. Matsuzaka allowed just six hits, struck out five and walked none. He was dominant after Curtis Granderson’s solo homer in the third. No other runners made it past second base.
Royals 2, Athletics 1: At Oakland, Calif., John Buck broke up a scoreless game with a two-run homer in the ninth inning against Justin Duchscherer and Kansas City won consecutive games for just the third time this season, beating Oakland. Gil Meche maintained his perfect ERA in four road starts by pitching seven scoreless innings for the Royals.
