Panhandle Health District, dentists team up for care
Panhandle Health District and several area dentists are offering free dental sealants to children attending Plummer, DeSmet and several Kootenai County elementary schools this spring.
Through the program, open to schools where more than half of children qualify for free and reduced meals under federal guidelines, dentists provide examinations and hygienists provide sealant to prevent decay in permanent molars.
Two sessions will be held at the Tribal School in DeSmet and at Lakeside Elementary in Worley on Wednesday and again on May 23.
On Friday, a clinic will target students at Sorensen Elementary School in Hayden.
Participating dentists include Dr. James Allen, Dr. Edward Lowry, Dr. Stan Rasmussen and Dr. Marty Hann. Assisting will be Mary Jo Sauber, a dental hygienist and dental hygiene students from Eastern Washington University.
