Walsh has news to celebrate
Kate Walsh has plenty of reasons to celebrate this week.
Not only did ABC announce that she’ll star in a “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff in the fall, but the 39-year-old actress told Us Weekly magazine Tuesday that she’s engaged.
“It happened a few days ago,” Walsh said of her engagement to Alex Young, a studio executive. “I’m on cloud nine.”
Her spinoff series, “Private Practice,” takes her “Grey’s Anatomy” character, Dr. Addison Shepherd, from Seattle and moves her to Los Angeles. There she reconnects with a friend whose medical practice needs an obstetrician – and with the friend’s former husband and business partner.
His next role: A Florida dope
David Faustino, who played Bud Bundy on the TV series “Married with Children,” was arrested on marijuana and disorderly intoxication charges. New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Police said they spotted Faustino, 33, and his wife, Andrea, 31, at an intersection late Friday night. Faustino reportedly tried to climb out the car window, then opened the door. The officer smelled alcohol on Faustino’s breath and found a plastic bag with a gram of marijuana in his pocket, police said.
Producers are people, too
Kelly Clarkson says the media is exaggerating reports that she and music mogul Clive Davis clashed over her upcoming CD, “My December.”
“You know what it is: This situation is just blown up,” the 25-year-old singer said. “This record is no different from my other records. Every record I’ve come out with, people have not liked.” The Grammy-winning pop star and original “American Idol” is signed to RCA Records, one of the labels Davis controls as chairman and CEO of BMG Label Group.
Bono truly is a ‘nice’ guy
Bono is embroiled in a flap over fireplaces at his Manhattan apartment building. The U2 frontman has told co-op board members at the stately San Remo that smoke from other residents’ fireplaces is wafting into the penthouse duplex he shares with his family.
The building’s fireplaces have long-standing problems, said Leni May, the wife of board member Peter May. “Bono was so nice,” she said. “He said, ‘Listen, whatever I can do to get these things working, but it’s emptying into my apartment and I can’t have smoke like that.’ “
Yo, Drea’s havin’ a bambino
Drea de Matteo, 35, who played Adriana La Cerva on HBO’s “The Sopranos,” is pregnant with her first child. The father is de Matteo’s boyfriend, country singer Shooter Jennings, the actress’ publicist, Amanda Silverman, said. De Matteo, 35, concluded her run on “The Sopranos” when her character was killed in the fifth season of the hit mob drama. She also starred on the NBC sitcom “Joey.”
