The Spokesman-Review

Athletics 3, Orioles 2: At Baltimore, Dan Haren pitched seven innings of two-hit ball for his fifth straight victory, and Oakland beat Erik Bedard and the Orioles. Haren gave up a first-inning run, then allowed two base runners during the next six innings.

Indians 7, Tigers 4: At Detroit, Casey Blake and Victor Martinez hit first-inning homers and Cleveland beat the Tigers. Paul Byrd allowed four runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and walked none.

Angels 10, Yankees 6: At New York, Casey Kotchman and Chone Figgins homered, Vladimir Guerrero doubled twice and Los Angeles battered the Yankees. Along with eight extra-base hits, the Angels relied on their fielding to support an unsteady Jered Weaver.

Twins 4, Blue Jays 3: At Minneapolis, Torii Hunter followed a two-out fielding error by Toronto reliever Scott Downs with an RBI single in the seventh inning, sending Minnesota over Toronto. The Blue Jays’ Frank Thomas hit home run No. 494 to move into sole possession of 21st place on baseball’s career list.

White Sox 5, Devil Rays 4: At Chicago, Joe Crede’s sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the ninth inning lifted the White Sox to a win over Tampa Bay. Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect ninth inning for the win.

Red Sox 10, Rangers 6: At Arlington, Texas, Daisuke Matsuzaka earned his seventh win of the season before leaving the game with a case of nausea and Boston defeated Texas. The Red Sox added four runs in the sixth off of Texas reliever Frank Francisco.
