Pirates 4, Padres 1: At Pittsburgh, Tom Gorzelanny scattered seven hits over seven innings to help the Pirates beat San Diego. Jason Bay hit his eighth homer and scored two runs for Pittsburgh.

Dodgers 10, Nationals 0: At Washington, Brad Penny scattered four singles over 6 1/3 innings, Juan Pierre had a career-high four extra-base hits and Los Angeles beat the Nationals.

Diamondbacks 11, Phillies 5: At Philadelphia, Orlando Hudson drove in four runs on four hits, Micah Owings pitched five effective innings and Arizona beat the Phillies.

Reds 2, Astros 1: At Houston, Scott Hatteberg hit a solo home run in the eighth inning and Matt Belisle struck out a career-high eight to lead Cincinnati over the Astros.

Brewers 5, Braves 4: At Milwaukee, Prince Fielder hit his N.L.-leading 17th homer and J.J. Hardy added the go-ahead single to lead the Brewers past Atlanta.

Mets 5, Giants 4 (12): At New York, Carlos Delgado hit his second homer of the game moments after Jose Reyes provoked excitable reliever Armando Benitez to balk home the tying run in the 12th inning, and the Mets downed San Francisco.

Marlins 9, Cubs 4: At Chicago, Jeremy Hermida hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth inning help lead Florida over the Cubs.

Rockies 8, Cardinals 3: At Denver, Yorvit Torrealba hit a grand slam, Rodrigo Lopez struck out a season-high seven in six innings and Colorado beat St. Louis.
