Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: Since the television remote control is probably one of the items in a motel room that has the most germs on its surface, I pack a clean, plastic, self-sealing bag in my suitcase. I slip the bag over the remote to use it. – Margaret Ann Holt, Stafford County, Va.

You are right! I use alcohol wipes to clean the remote and telephone. Heloise

Dear Heloise: I save small plastic bags that will accommodate two rechargeable AA batteries for my digital cameras. I get these when I have jewelry repaired or with some garments that have extra buttons.

I take a small piece of stiff paper, fold it in half and write “charged” on one side and “used” on the other. This is folded to show the status and placed with the batteries. I always have a pair of charged batteries as backup for the ones in the camera. – Barbara Kelly, Abilene, Texas
