Chivers, Graham lead Lakeside
Reid Chivers ran for 109 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls to a 35-15 victory over Tonasket in a Northeast A League/Caribou Trail League crossover playoff game Friday night in Nine Mile Falls.
Jake Graham added two rushing scores for the Eagles (9-1), who built a 21-0 halftime lead.
Lakeside advances to play host to the winner between Royal and Goldendale next Saturday in a State 1A opener.
In another crossover playoff game, Colfax was eliminated after falling 27-12 at Brewster. Austin Benson converted 19 of 30 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bears. Jared Ledbetter scored a rushing touchdown and Dustin Huber caught a 10-yard pass from Levi Ellis to lead the Bulldogs (6-4). … Cascade scored 35 second-half points and beat Kettle Falls 48-13 in Leavenworth. Lucas Fox ran for 168 yards on 29 carries to lead the Bulldogs (5-5), who were eliminated. … Cashmere built a 24-7 first-half lead and cruised to a 43-19 win over visiting Freeman (4-6). Brandon Saiki threw for 164 yards on 12 of 24 passing and a touchdown to lead the Scotties, who were eliminated.
Northeast 1B League
Odessa clinched the top seed in the Northeast 1B League with a 54-6 win over visiting Entiat (4-5, 3-5). Justin Karnitz had 105 yards rushing and three touchdowns to guide the Tigers (9-0, 9-0). Odessa will play Friday at 7 p.m. against the Southeast 1B fifth seed. … Elsewhere, Almira/Coulee-Hartline wrapped up the second seed with a 58-26 rout of host Inchelium (1-8, 0-8). Jordan Hughes ran for a touchdown, returned a punt for a touchdown and caught a pass for another score to guide the Warriors (9-1, 9-1). … Spencer Shanholtzer ran for 164 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns to guide Cusick (6-4, 6-3) to a 38-28 win over visiting Columbia (6-3, 5-3). With the win, the Panthers secured the third seed while the Lions earned the fourth. … Pateros (6-4, 6-3) built a 26-7 lead and cruised to a 48-13 win over visiting Curlew (3-6, 3-6).
Northeast 2B League
Josh Eldred ran for 116 yards on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Reardan to a 28-12 win over visiting Davenport (4-6, 4-2). Adam Collins added a touchdown pass and a touchdown run for the Indians (8-1, 6-0), who earned the top seed and will host Kittitas in the first round of the state tournament next weekend. Davenport is the third seed and will travel to play La Salle next weekend at state. … Lind-Ritzville secured the second seed with a 41-0 win over visiting Liberty (4-5, 1-5). Isaiah Grant ran for two touchdowns and Mike Osborn threw for two scores to guide the Broncos (7-2, 5-1), who will host Asotin in the first round of the state tournament next weekend. Landis Mills ran for 164 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Republic (5-3, 3-3) to a 34-8 win over host Selkirk (3-6, 1-5) at Ione.

Touchet (9-0, 8-0) secured the league title with a 66-20 win over host LaCrosse-Washtucna (5-4, 5-3). Taylor Gregg ran for 240 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns to guide the Indians. … In other league action, Colton/Pullman Christian took the second seed with a 34-22 win over visiting Garfield-Palouse (7-3, 5-3). Non-league
After trailing by seven at the half, Chewelah scored 21 second-half points and beat visiting Omak 28-19. Russ Whitley ran for 215 yards on 35 carries and scored two touchdowns to guide the Cougars (3-7). … Chelan defeated visiting Newport 49-32. Bryant Baxter had 249 yards on 26 carries and scored two touchdowns to guide the Grizzlies (2-8), who were eliminated.

Great Northern League fourth seed West Valley will play at Central Washington Athletic Conference third seed Ephrata Tuesday at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to the state tournament as the Dist. 5/6 No. 3 seed. GNL No. 3 Colville will host CWAC No. 4 Selah at 6 p.m. on Tuesday with the winner advancing to state as the GNL third seed.
Idaho State 5A
Behind an inspired defense and a ground-mulching offense, Lake City handled Lewiston 32-12 in a State 5A playoff opener at Bengal Field in Lewiston. The defending state champion Timberwolves (8-2) travel to Capital of Boise (8-2) Friday. Kickoff at Boise State University’s Bronco Stadium is 6 p.m. PST. Capital topped Vallivue 49-22 in another opener, while Meridian breezed past Mountain View 35-3. LC rushed for 261 yards on 51 attempts. Jared Heston had 82 on 18 rushes, Zach Clanton had 76 on eight carries and B.J. Palmer, who saw playing time beginning late in the second quarter, had 73 on 12 attempts.
Idaho State 4A
Shawn Hiebert ran for 183 yards on 19 carries and scored a touchdown to guide Lakeland to a 20-10 win over Kuna (7-3) in a state 4A playoff playoff game in Rathdrum. The win sets up another home date for Lakeland (7-2) Friday at 7 against Nampa. The Bulldogs (8-3) defeated Bishop Kelly 3-0 Friday to advance. Lakeland coach Tim Kiefer was jubilant after the victory.
“I think our kids, on paper, may have been a little bit overmatched,” said Kiefer, admitting he himself may have been a little intimidated. “But our kids, all year long, have showed they have a lot of heart and a lot of character, and that showed tonight.
