On the Job: Living spaces are her specialty
Charlotte Rodgers-Roe combines beauty with design and creates answers for homeowners. She is an interior designer who owns “Interiors by Charlotte” on 12th Street in Post Falls.
Rodgers-Roe has won 15 Parade of Home awards from the North Idaho Builders/Contractor Association, and served on the NIBCA board until 1992.
Rodgers-Roe created Charlotte’s Web, a building at Second Street and Indiana. “I started as a seamstress, sewing drapery and doing upholstery for Lillian Wilcoms. But in business, you never know who is going to walk in the door and what their need is going to be, so I went to NIC and took classes. I have an excellent visual memory and excellent people skills. Color, shapes, spatial elements and design just make sense to me.
“I think this is because my father was a construction worker and from the ages of 7 to 17 I lived in 25 homes. My favorite childhood memory was when I was about 7 years old and the house we lived in at the time had a chicken house. I cleaned it out created curtains for the windows and set boxes around the inside of the house for furniture. I arranged and rearranged those boxes until I was satisfied. At every home we lived afterward, I always had some sort of space that I would create for myself. I think that is why I enjoy creating living space for others so much.”
