THE SLICE

North Idaho’s Val Gittel used to pick up her daughter every day outside the girl’s middle school.

Gittel drove a small, white SUV, “With one of those black leather things on the front to protect from rock chips.”

One day, Gittlel got the vehicle washed. She had removed the protective wrap for that, and left it off for the rest of the day.

That afternoon, when she pulled up in front of the school, she could see her daughter. But the girl showed no sign of realizing her mom was there, waiting. She continued chatting with friends.

Finally, Gittel had to get out of the vehicle and walk over. The girl apologized and explained that the car just didn’t look the same.

Said the daughter, “I didn’t recognize you without your bra on.”
