Colville surges while WV comes up short
Casey Cox ran for two touchdowns and Brandon Katzer added a rushing score and a 99-yard interception return for another touchdown to guide Colville to a 35-7 win over Selah in a State 2A preliminary round game Tuesday in Colville.
Katzer scored both of his touchdowns in the first half as the Indians built a 21-0 lead.
Colville (9-2) added 14 points in the third quarter, capped by P.J. Sager’s 40-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
The Indians will play at Othello (7-3) on Saturday in the first round of the state tournament.
Ephrata 28, West Valley 20: The Tigers scored 21 second-half points and defeated the Eagles in a State 2A preliminary round game at Ephrata.
Bryan Peterson completed 20 of 26 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns to guide West Valley, which managed just six points after halftime.
Tommy Peterson added a touchdown run for the Eagles (5-6), who were eliminated.
Ephrata (9-2) advances to play at Pullman (10-0) on Saturday in the first round.
