Vandals win season opener
MOSCOW, Idaho – Trevor Morris scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Idaho men’s basketball team to a 110-52 rout of Cascade in the Vandals’ season opener Friday at Memorial Gym.
Morris shot 9 of 14 from the field, including 5 of 8 from beyond the arc. Michael Crowell and Darin Nagle each added 17 points for Idaho, which built a 42-22 halftime lead.
The Vandals shot 39 of 59 from the floor, including 12 of 20 from the 3-point line, and 20 of 28 on free throws.
Jordan Brooks added 10 points and a game-high nine boards for Idaho, which held a 40-24 advantage in rebounds.
The Vandals’ Brandon Brown also finished in double figures with 11 points.
UI came out strongly after halftime, making 25 of its 32 shot attempts and outscoring Cascade 68-30 after intermission.
The Vandals also held an advantage in assists and turnovers.
Idaho had 16 assists to Cascade’s five and committed nine fewer turnovers.
Erving Adams had 16 points and Bryan Ferguson added 12 to lead Cascade, which fell to 2-5 on the season.
