Vandals at GU; WSU at Boise
The 14th-ranked Gonzaga men entertain Idaho (1-0) tonight at 5 at the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Vandals, coached by George Pfeifer, friendly with the GU staff, opened with a 110-52 rout of Cascade.
“They’ve added some real talent,” GU coach Mark Few said. “George knows (us) better than anybody and he probably knows how to use kryptonite, so he’ll try to use it.”
Idaho has six returners from last year’s 4-27 team, including guard Trevor Morris, who had 25 points in the opener. Forward Clyde Johnson (violation of athletic department policy) won’t play.
“ The ninth-ranked WSU men play at Boise State (1-0) at 6. There is no television coverage but the game can be heard on 920-AM in Spokane and the Cougar radio network. The 1-0 Cougars defeated the Broncos 65-63 last year in the Spokane Arena.

Top-ranked Chiefs in Arena tonight
For the second straight week, the Spokane Chiefs were voted the top team in the Western Hockey League poll by the Western Major Junior Hockey Writer’s Association.
The Chiefs (14-3-1-2, 31 points), who received 11 of 17 first-place votes, remain on top of the U.S. Division after splitting games during the weekend.
Their six-game homestand continues tonight against Prince George at 7 at the Arena. The Chiefs posted back-to- back wins over the Cougars on opening weekend in PG.
Chiefs forward Curtis Kelner will serve the second of a two-game suspension. Kelner was originally given a match penalty in a Friday loss to Kamloops, but after reviewing the play, the league changed it to a major penalty for checking from behind and a game misconduct.
Kelner served the first game Saturday in a win over division-rival Everett.
