Senators’ campaign reaches 15-2-0
Daniel Alfredsson scored a pair of first-period goals and Martin Gerber made 35 saves for his National Hockey League-leading 12th win in the Ottawa Senators’ 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night at Ottawa.
Alfredsson, who played his 800th regular-season game, opened the scoring with his 14th goal 6:32 in. The Ottawa captain got his second goal of the period – his 15th of the season – on a power play at 18:53.
Shean Donovan scored in the second period for the Senators, who improved to 15-2-0.
Sharks 6, Coyotes 0: At Glendale, Ariz., Evgeni Nabokov made 15 saves to record his second shutout in four days to lead San Jose past Phoenix.
Joe Pavelski scored a pair of power-play goals, Patrick Rissmiller had a goal and an assist, and Jeremy Roenick, Devin Setoguchi and Steve Bernier also scored for the Sharks, who have won four straight.
Ducks 6, Kings 3: At Los Angeles, Corey Perry had two goals and an assist, and Chris Kunitz added three assists to lead Anaheim over Los Angeles.

Penguins 3, Islanders 2: At Pittsburgh, Sidney Crosby had two assists to extend his point streak to 12 games and Evgeni Malkin extended his streak to 18 games with an assist as Pittsburgh defeated New York to break a four-game losing streak.
Panthers 2, Capitals 1: At Sunrise, Fla., Richard Zednik and Kamil Kreps scored to help Florida defeat Washington and snap a four-game losing streak.
Rangers 4, Flyers 3 (SO): Brendan Shanahan scored the only goal in a shootout as New York handed Philadelphia its first home setback of the season.
Bruins 5, Maple Leafs 2: At Boston, Peter Schaefer had a pair of third-period goals, Marc Savard scored 19 seconds into the game and Tim Thomas stopped 34 shots to lead Boston over Toronto.
