OUTBOARD

Benefits for instructors

The Lookout Pass Snowsports School has a screaming deal for competent snowboarders with a knack for teaching.

The school is recruiting reliable snowboarders to teach novices on weekends as well as Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Candidates must be age 16 or older and have the skills of advanced intermediate or better.

The rewards:

• Compensation, free season pass, discounts at food concessions and shops.

• Free instruction on snowboard technique and teaching progression.

• Assistance toward instructor certification.

• Passes to other ski areas.

OUTFISH

Rules spelled out

The small print in the Washington fishing regulations pamphlet apparently is too small for some bait fishermen who show up at Amber Lake.

Problem solved.

Inland Empire Fly Fishing Club members installed a big, new sign at the boat launch last month reminding anglers that the Spokane County lake is a selective fishery – no bait or barbed hooks allowed.

Amber’s catch-and-release season closes Nov. 30.

OUTSEE

Eagle cruise boarding at CdA

A real live bald eagle will be on board an eagle-watching cruise boat during a fundraiser for Birds of Prey Northwest, Dec. 2, on Lake Coeur d’Alene.

The Mish An Nock will sail at 12:45 with birding experts on hand to spot and explain the bald eagle congregation at Wolf Lodge Bay.

Cost: $15 or $9 for kids 6-16.

Sign-up: Wild Birds Unlimited in Coeur d’Alene, or call (208) 664-4739 or go online, www.birdsofprey northwest.org.
