Glavine heads home to Braves
Tom Glavine is coming home.
The 303-game winner returned to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, agreeing to an $8 million, one-year contract.
The agreement between the two-time N.L. Cy Young Award winner and the Braves was hammered out during weekend talks, said Glavine’s agent, Gregg Clifton. The pitcher already has taken a physical for Atlanta, the final formality in the deal.
The Braves needed less than a week to lure Glavine back after an acrimonious split in 2002 that led to him spending five seasons with the New York Mets. His old – make that new – team was expected to formally introduce him at a news conference today at Turner Field.
Glavine, who is married and has four children, kept his primary home in suburban Atlanta even after he signed with the Mets, and it was clear the crafty left-hander wanted to finish his career with the Braves when he turned down a $13 million option to return to New York in 2008, taking a $3 million buyout.

Harris’ body apparently found
Police in Brazil have told the FBI they believe they have found the body of a former Washington State University basketball star who has been missing since early this month.
“We were notified this afternoon that a police department in Brazil that has been investigating the case had located a body. They believe it to be Tony Harris because of the physical description of the body and the clothing, but we have no official confirmation of that,” Agent Robbie Burroughs, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Seattle, said Sunday night.
An FBI agent attached to the U.S. Embassy in Brazil has been in contact with Brazilian police and would work with them today to confirm the body’s identity, Burroughs said.
The FBI was told only that the body was found outdoors, apparently near Brasilia, Burroughs said.
Harris, who would have turned 37 Sunday, left Oct. 31 to play basketball for a Brazilian team, Universo. His wife last heard from him on Nov. 4.
Harris played for the 1994 WSU team that made it to the east regionals of the NCAA tournament, and before that on state championship teams at Garfield High School in Seattle.
