Eastern Washington University football coach Paul Wulff has been selected by The Sports Network as one of 16 finalists for the Eddie Robinson Award.

Wulff, in his eighth season, has led the Eagles to an 8-3 record, five games better than last season’s 3-8 mark. He is a three-time Big Sky coach of the year (2001, 2004, 2005).

The Robinson Award, named for the legendary former Grambling State coach, has been given annually by The Sports Nework since 1987 to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision national coach of the year.

Among this year’s nominees is McNeese State coach Matt Viator, whose team plays Eastern Washington in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday. Other nominees are Pete Adrian, Norfolk State; Rod Broadway, Grambling; Craig Bohl, North Dakota State; Dave Clawson, Richmond; Dave Cohen, Hofstra; Mark Farley, Northern Iowa; Henry Frazier, Prairie View; Chris Hatcher, Georgia Southern; Danny Hope, Eastern Kentucky; Al Lavan, Delaware State; Pete Lembo, Elon; Tom Masella, Fordham; Jerry Moore, Appalachian State; and Jack Siedlecki, Yale.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 13.
