Around the league

The Tennessee Titans added wide receiver Mike Williams to the roster and he joined them in time for practice Thursday. Williams, the 10th pick in the 2005 draft out of Southern California, has also played the for the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders, who released him Oct. 30. The Titans are familiar with Williams because of offensive coordinator Norm Chow, who coached him at Southern California. … Eagles quarterack Donovan McNabb missed practice because of ankle and thumb injuries, and it’s uncertain whether he will play for the Eagles against New England on Sunday. … The Steelers will put down a new grass playing field in time for Monday night’s game against the Dolphins, but must wait until four Pittsburgh-area high school championship games today and the South Florida-Pitt game on Saturday afternoon are played. The new sod will remain in place for the rest of this season.
