Local woman wins national contest

COEUR d’ALENE – It’s all about cooking at the Wishful Kneads-Bosch Kitchen Center in Coeur d’Alene. Owners Jan and Rick Thornton share their expertise at weekly cooking classes held in their store’s own kitchen/classroom.

It was while attending one of the Wishful Kneads cooking classes last September that eventual winner Carolyn Sampert learned about Bosch’s “It’s Still Working!” national contest for current Bosch owners. The prize was Bosch’s new 2007 Universal Kitchen Machine.

Contestants were asked to write a story about their Bosch experiences. She told of her husband Ron’s reaction, that day in 1988, when she came home with a brand-new Bosch Universal Kitchen Machine.

Obviously miffed at such an “extravagant” purchase, her husband had said, “You can’t make enough bread to pay for this!” Sampert willingly took his challenge and since that day, some 20 years ago, the Samperts have yet to buy any ready-made bread, buns, dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, cookies, or cakes for their family of six.

Ron Sampert is the first to admit that his wife has indeed made the Bosch pay for itself … and then some.

Although the Samperts are now empty nesters, they’ll still put their new machine to good use. They’re too spoiled to ever go back to commercially prepared baked goods now.

The Thorntons will also receive a new Bosch Universal Kitchen machine. Jan Thornton said she is thrilled with the machine’s new design, and apparently so are her customers. Of the 10 new models shipped to her store, eight of them flew off the shelves in two days.
