Volleyball: Eagles’ season ends
The Eastern Washington volleyball team saw its season come to a close after falling 30-20, 30-17, 30-20 to Sacramento State in a Big Sky Conference tournament semifinal match Friday in Sacramento, Calif.
Hayley Hills had nine kills and 10 digs and Amanda Yausie 24 assists to guide the Eagles.
The Hornets (27-7) were led by Missie Stidham’s 21 kills and Rose Burke’s 46 assists.
EWU advanced to the semifinals after defeating Northern Arizona (12-15) 32-30, 28-30, 28-30, 30-18, 15-11 in an earlier match.
The Eagles finished the season with a 15-15 record.
“Brittany Johnson had 18 kills to lead Washington State to a 22-30, 30-28, 28-30, 30-25, 15-8 Pac-10 win over Oregon State in Pullman in both teams’ final match of the season.
Tara West had 16 kills and Jackie Albright add 13 kills and 16 digs for WSU, which earned its first conference win of the season.
WSU finished its season with a 10-22 record, including 1-17 in conference matches. OSU fell to 10-20 and 3-15.
“Christal Morrison had 21 kills and eight blocks to guide No. 6 Washington (26-3, 15-3 Pac-10) to a 27-30, 30-27, 30-25, 30-16 win over Oregon (20-10, 9-9) in Seattle in both teams’ final Pac-10 conference match of the season.
“Idaho (13-16) fell 30-26, 30-27, 30-22 to Cal State Fullerton (14-15) at the CSUN Fremont I & L Tournament in Northridge, Calif.
Haley Larsen had 16 kills and 13 digs and Sarah Loney added 11 kills for Idaho.
