Hungry for Republicans

The Spokesman-Review

I was shocked at the letter from Mr. Howell (“Hungry for new leader,” Nov. 21). Sure, 12 million Americans experiencing hunger in 2006 sounds horrible. But is this taken out of context? That is roughly only 4 percent of the population. How does that compare to other countries? Has it increased or decreased over time?

I would guess decrease. Unemployment is at a decades-long low, the economy is doing great, and we are making huge progress in the war. I guess you can always look for the negatives.

What do the Democrats offer us? Bigger government, higher taxes, more illegal immigration, less protection against terrorism and more Hollywood and public immorality. I really can’t even imagine any of the Democrats as our commander and chief.

The worse thing that could happen for the Democrats is if we continue to make progress in Iraq and the economy continues to do well. Seems like they are all rooting against what is good for America. So far, it seems like a pretty easy decision in 2008. Vote Republican.
