The Slice

Paul Turner The Spokesman-Review

If you are expecting an addition to your family soon, consider baby names inspired by the season.

This isn’t a new practice. Consider, for instance, the names Carol and Noel.

But modern parents like monikers that are, uh, distinctive. So let’s expand the options.

How about Ebenezer? Sure, Scrooge didn’t start out as Mr. Warmth. But think about the swell guy he became.

Or what about naming a daughter Cindy Lou Who? She might tire of “Grinch” references by the time she is 4. Still, imagine how much fun it would be to ask her if she would like another piece of roast beast.

No?

Well, how about Ralphie, Scut Farkus, Zuzu, Uncle Billy, Rudy or Linus?

OK, let’s move on.
