Tifa Puletasi had a game-high 12 points to lead Mead to a 47-40 win over Ferris Tuesday in a Greater Spokane League basketball opener at Ferris.

The Panthers’ Jazmine Redmon hit a 3-pointer with 1 1/2 minutes to go to put Mead ahead by four.

Amber Quann had 11 points and Liz Boyden added 10 to lead the Saxons, who kept the score close by making 19 of 24 free-throw attempts.

In other league openers, two-time defending State 4A champion Lewis and Clark started strongly and never looked back in a 75-30 win over host Mt. Spokane. Ashley Woodruff had 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and Kelsey Baker added 12 to lead the Tigers. LC outscored the Wildcats 21-4 in the opening quarter and held a 38-11 lead at the half. Jeneva Anderson chipped in 10 points for the Tigers, who forced Mt. Spokane into 22 turnovers. Averi Hallman and Sydney Massie tallied seven points apiece to guide the Wildcats. … Freshman Tia Presley had 19 points and 10 steals to guide Gonzaga Prep to an 86-21 rout of Rogers at G-Prep. Jensen Sayman chipped in 15 points and Brigette Pinsoneault added 10 points and six assists for the Bulldogs, who outscored the Pirates 21-4 in the first quarter and 23-6 in the second. G-Prep made 13 of 19 free throws and led 69-15 after three quarters. Samantha Roybal scored nine points on 3-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc to lead Rogers. … Justine Bowman scored a game-high 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting and Central Valley used a big fourth quarter to beat Shadle Park at CV. Lindsey Gigler added 10 points for the Bears, who outscored the Highlanders 19-3 in the fourth after both teams were tied at 37 entering the final quarter. Shadle went cold in the fourth, not scoring until Lindsay Niemeier’s 3-pointer with just more than 1 minute left. The Bears were solid from the free-throw line, making 17 of 24 while the Highlanders made 3 of 11. Amanda Carlton scored 13 points and Niemeier added nine to lead Shadle. … University dominated the first quarter and cruised to a 48-30 win over host North Central. The Titans outscored the Indians 25-7 in the first and held a 21-point advantage at the half. Zoe Scott scored 17 points to lead U-Hi, which forced NC into committing 29 turnovers. Stephanie DeGon had nine points and Tara VanWeerdhuizen added eight to guide the Indians.
