LCSC drops opener at nationals
Claudia Alarcon finished with 26 kills and 10 digs Wednesday as 12th-seeded Texas-Brownsville (34-7) defeated Lewis-Clark State College 28-30, 30-28, 30-22, 30-25 to open the NAIA national volleyball tournament at Columbia (Mo.) College.
Anile Clemente had 20 kills, and Cintia Alessi added 18 kills and 23 digs for ninth-seeded LCSC (25-7), which is making its first appearance at nationals since 1999.
The Warriors will play two pool-play matches today in an attempt to advance to Friday’s bracket play. LCSC begins with Virginia-Wise (25-14) the faces second-ranked Cal Baptist (28-4).
