Pac-10 picks

Thank goodness this is the final week of Pac-10 football action.

Though last week was the first this season when we were better against the line than overall, there still was precious little for which to give thanks. Darn those Sun Devils.

But we know we’ll do better this week. After all, it can’t get much worse.

As always, the listed line is for your entertainment purposes only.

Arizona at Arizona State (ASU by 6.5): The Wildcats win, they go to a bowl. The Sun Devils win, they ensure they go to San Diego (Holiday Bowl) instead of El Paso (Sun Bowl). The Sun Devils have better motivation. ASU 31-24.

Oregon State at Oregon (no line): There’s no line because there are seemingly no quarterbacks, at least healthy ones. Who would have thought three weeks ago the Beavers were going to finish higher than the Ducks in the Pac-10 race? OSU 18-0.

Cal at Stanford (Cal by 13): There is no comparison between these two teams. Cal is markedly more talented, physical and faster. Wait, isn’t that what we wrote about USC when the Trojans hosted the Cardinal? Stanford 28-24.

UCLA at USC (USC by 20): The Bruins’ lack of offense didn’t hurt them against Oregon last week, or against USC last year for that matter. But they need to score more than field goals to win this one. They won’t. USC 24-15.

Washington at Hawaii (Hawaii by 14): The Warriors have something to play for. Make that 10 million somethings, as in the dollars a BCS bowl berth could bring in. The Huskies are playing for pride. Hawaii 44-31.

Last week: 1-3 overall, 2-2 vs. spread; Season: 45-26 overall, 25-42 vs. spread.
