Hints from Heloise
Dear Heloise: Recently, you had a hint from a reader who suggested unplugging electrical components for several minutes to reset them if an error code appears.
I recently had an error code on my treadmill that left the appliance inoperable. I unplugged the treadmill for several minutes, and it has been working perfectly ever since. Thanks to you and your readers. You saved me a lot of money. – Les Heugatter, via e-mail
Here is another comment about unplugging items to reset them from Don, via e-mail. He says: “If the telephone is plugged into electric power, as well as the phone line, unplug both cords. The phone line is also a power source and might keep some circuits from resetting. Leave the appliance unplugged for at least 10 minutes. This gives some components time to fully drain their charges and allows the appliance to start up as though brand new (provided further damage hasn’t been done).” – Heloise
