Gerontology and Geriatrics Professional Development Conference – The conference for health-care professionals and caregivers features workshops on dementia, spiritual care, therapeutic recreation and more. The event will be from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. next Tuesday at the Spokane Community College Lair Center, 1810 N. Greene St. The cost is $50, which includes materials and meals. Legal Issues and Rights of Cancer Patients – The Washington Women Lawyers is hosting a seminar on legal issues facing cancer patients Oct. 11 from 12:30-5:30 p.m. at the Gonzaga Law School. Topics range from employment issues to estate planning. The event is free to community members and GU students. Attorneys who want CLE credits for attending must pay $40. Cardiovascular Health Risk Assessment – The Sacred Heart Women’s Health Center presents Heart-to-Heart, a program to help you find out your risk for cardiovascular disease. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at 101 W. Eighth Ave., Suite 1200. The cost of this screening includes several tests, educational materials and follow-up is $60. Families Supporting Families – Meets the second and fourth Wednesday of every month for families of those with eating disorders.
