Coors coffee pot rates as rare find
Dear Collector,
This Folger’s coffee maker has been in our family for many years. I would like to know something about it and what it might be worth?
Look on the ceramic filter inside and you should find the maker’s name: Coors – yep, the beer people. Along with breweries, starting in 1910 Coors has also manufactured a wide variety of ceramic items including your depression era “automatic drip” coffee pot. Not commonly found, its value is in excess of $75.
Dear Collector,
What is the chance you can put a year on this small wooden box with Edinburgh Castle on it?
An exact date will be impossible, though I can guess the age of your Mauchline Ware hinged trinket casket (after Mauchline, Scotland, where the majority of production occurred) within a decade or two. An early mass-produced souvenir, your keepsake was made in the 1870s or ‘80s.
Dear Collector,
The enclosed snapshot shows “An Elaborate Dinner” signed by Wallace Nutting. It hung in my parent’s home. I have no idea where they got it. Does it have value?
This hand tinted piece in original frame came from an early 1900s studio that specialized in reproducing, down to the signature, the photographic works of Nutting (1861-1941), one of America’s foremost antiquarians. Interiors, especially those portraying the Colonial lifestyle, tend to have a higher value than exteriors. Your circa 1912 picture is worth between $110 and $150.
Dear Collector,
I have a 1901 dime without any noticeable mint mark. It seems to be in very, very good condition. Would you provide its current worth?
Coin collectors would most likely grade your coin as very good, placing its value at $2.
Dear Collector,
I found this Narragansett beer can when I cleaned out the cellar of a house we just moved into. I’ve read where some of these old cans can be worth a lot of money. Is mine valuable?
A New England favorite until 1981, Narragansett was brewed in Providence. Your can is moderately recent, dating from the 1960s and is listed at $20.
Dear Collector,
This “Pursuit” game belonged to my father when he was a boy. It must be more than 60 years old. There’s some damage to the box, but I think all the pieces and board are in order; what is it worth?
Game Makers, Inc. of Long Island was responsible for this World War II era game now worth $100.
Dear Collector,
Is a 1933 Sears Catalog worth anything?
Your summer edition is now valued at $25.
Dear Collector,
The old French coin in this photo is from 1888. I do not remember when or how I got it. Could it be worth much?
Classically designed, the one franc silver coin of the Third Republic is worth $4 to $8, depending on condition.
