West Valley’s Krystal Hughes took first place with a time of 19 minutes and 32 seconds, but Cheney’s girls edged the Eagles to take the team title at a three-way meet Tuesday in Cheney.

The Blackhawks edged West Valley 27-28 and improved to 4-0 on the season with two league meets left. Kyle Miller finished second in 19:35 to pace Cheney.

The Eagles, who defeated Deer Park 27-28 in the other matchup, are 3-1 on the season.

On the boys’ side, West Valley kept its perfect season intact with a 22-33 victory over Cheney. Richard Kerdack won in 16:40 and teammate Joey Hartmiere finished 13 seconds back to take second. Cheney’s Harlan Gaugh (16:55) was third.

The Eagles improved to 4-0, while the Blackhawks are 3-1.

Elsewhere in the Great Northern League, Colville’s boys and girls defeated Medical Lake at Fairways Golf Course. The Indians’ Jake Hastings was the boys champion, finishing in 16:42. … The Riverside boys and girls defeated Pullman and Clarkston in Pullman. Mitch Chandler led the Rams, finishing first for the boys in 18:09 while Riverside’s Stephanie Dye was the girls champion in 22:12, 10 seconds ahead of teammate Amanda Wilson.

Volleyball

Brianne Brown and Stacy Kent had 11 kills apiece and Lindsay Niemeier handed out a match-high 30 assists as Shadle Park (5-1) defeated University 25-23, 28-26, 27-25 in a Greater Spokane League match at Spokane Falls Community College. Casey Jurich had 16 kills and 15 digs to lead the Titans (3-3). … In other GSL action, Karyn Mockel had 20 assists and Lindsey Petroni added eight digs as Mead (5-0) defeated visiting Central Valley (3-4) 25-8, 25-8, 26-24. … Chloe Rowand and Oceana Bush had 10 kills and Laurie Yearout dished out 17 assists to guide Lewis and Clark (6-1) to a 25-14, 25-17, 25-15 win over host Gonzaga Prep. Claire Hopkins had a team-high eight digs for the Bullpups (1-5). … Jordon Hoffnagle had a team-high 11 assists and three aces to guide Mt. Spokane to a 25-20, 25-23, 25-18 win over visiting North Central (1-5). Brooke Duncan and Caitlin Barschig added six kills for the Wildcats (5-2). … Justine Simpson had a match-high five kills, three aces and eight digs to guide East Valley (5-1) to a 25-12, 25-11, 25-12 win over visiting Rogers (0-6). The Knights’ Desi Rainey dished out 15 assists in her first game as a setter.

Whitney Hodge had 11 kills and Kerri Spangenberg handed out 27 assists as Pullman defeated visiting Cheney (1-6) 25-22, 25-22, 25-11 in a Great Northern League match. Meghan Barrington added eight aces for the Greyhounds (5-1). … Elsewhere, Carly Dorshorst had a match-high 23 kills and Shannon Spilker handed out 25 assists as Medical Lake (2-5) beat visiting Deer Park 23-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 15-11. Ariana Obert had a team-high 15 digs and three aces to lead the Stags (3-4). … Emilee Lepp had 11 kills and Ashley Christie added 15 assists, leading Colville (6-1) to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-13 win over visiting Riverside (2-5). … Bailey Wold had 10 kills and three aces and Alyssa Wold added 22 assists and 11 digs as West Valley (6-1) topped host Clarkston (2-4) 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.

Girls soccer

Pullman outscored Riverside 4-2 in a shootout to earn a 1-0 win over the Rams (5-4, 5-3) in a Great Northern League match in Pullman. Haley Snodgrass, Anna Albrecht, Amy Sterk and Niina Al-Hassan all scored for the Greyhounds (10-1, 8-0) in the shootout after both teams failed to score in regulation and two overtime periods. … Elsewhere in the GNL, Kellie Zakrzewski scored four goals as Cheney defeated visiting Chewelah (0-10, 0-8) 13-0. The Blackhawks (8-2, 7-1) scored seven goals in the second half. … Helen Nelson scored off an assist from Amy Shaw in the 69th minute to break a 1-1 tie and give Colville a 2-1 win over host Medical Lake (3-7, 2-6). Shaw opened the scoring for the Indians (3-6, 2-6) with a goal in the 28th minute. The Cardinals’ Chelsea Hardenbrook responded with a goal in the 51st minute before Nelson’s game-winner. … Katie Baran scored four goals, leading host Lakeside to a 7-2 win over Deer Park (3-8, 2-6) in Nine Mile Falls. Kasey Rubosky added a goal and two assists for the Eagles (5-5, 5-3), who held a 17-9 advantage in shots. … Dee Dee Garbe and Laura Estey each scored in the second half to help West Valley (9-1, 7-1) secure a 3-1 win over host Clarkston (2-7, 2-6). Lacey Nordby gave the Eagles a 1-0 advantage with a goal in the 15th minute.
