Handle on Business: Integrated Ideas moving to new location

Nils Rosdahl Correspondent

Specialization in technology is the focus of businesses planning to occupy new spaces in Kootenai County.

Precision metal work is the mainstay of Integrated Ideas and Technologies Inc., which is building a 23,000-square-foot facility at 6164 W. Seltice Way. The company has been off Schreiber Way in Coeur d’Alene for 10 years.

Michael Ray, who owns the business with his wife, Karen, described their company’s work as manufacturing surface metal tooling and precision metal fabrication, primarily for aerospace and medical uses.

They also design and manufacture laser systems. The company has 28 employees in three shifts and plans to add 10 more with the move.

The Rays came here “for the lifestyle” with 11 employees when they were recruited by Jobs Plus from Mountain View, Calif. They may retain their current building in addition to the new one, which they hope to occupy in February or March. Web sites are www.integratedideas.com and www.iitmetalfab.com.

Kidney dialysis company expands to Hayden

Already with the North Idaho Dialysis Center in Coeur d’Alene, Fresenius Medical Care is adding a Hayden Lake Kidney Dialysis Center at 7600 N. Mineral Drive. The company will have 6,400 square feet in the 7600 Building of Coeur d’Alene Tech Center. It hopes to open in mid-December.

Project manager Gary Pete said the new clinic will employ 18 people. With its headquarters in Germany, Fresenius has more than 1,600 dialysis clinics around the world. The new location is owned by Parkwood Business Properties.

Dutch Bros. Coffee coming to North Idaho

Normally a new drive-through coffee outfit isn’t profiled in this space because they often aren’t permanent and, well, they’re very prolific. (I sure wish they’d surface in other areas of the country, especially the Northeast).

But this Dutch Bros. Coffee outfit in the southwest corner of Hanley Avenue at Government Way will include a 407-square-foot building and all the amenities the city requires for almost a store.

Already the manager of three Dutch Bros. outfits in Spokane, Jackson Hite will hire eight employees here with a Nov. 30 opening targeted. With its headquarters in Grants Pass, Ore., since 1992, Dutch Bros., has 112 locations in the Northwest.

This week’s tidbits

“Sometimes finding a space for a nonprofit organization can be frustrating. The Coeur d’Alene Fencing Club is losing its space and can’t find a replacement. The fencers need about 2,500 square feet of open space with about a 12-foot ceiling for afternoon and evening hours.

“More than 25 employers will be seeking applicants at the Autumn Job Fair from 10 a.m. to noon next Saturday at the Idaho Department of Labor, 1221 W. Ironwood Drive, Suite 200, Coeur d’Alene. Phone 769-1558, option 0. Next week we’ll give some clues to help with job interviews.

“Today from 9 a.m. to noon is the annual Fall Cleanup at Tubbs Hill. Starbucks Coffee supplies (free) the garbage bags, gloves, hidden prizes and, of course, coffee for this volunteer event. But even more exciting, the coffee company donates $10 (up to $1,000) to the Tubbs Hill Foundation for each hour a volunteer works. Make sure you sign up at the Third Street entrance.
