GSL needs lacrosse

The Spokesman-Review

I’m a sophomore at Mead High School and I think the GSL should start a lacrosse league.

After football and basketball, what sport in the spring will everybody want to watch? If each school had one, they would go watch the lacrosse team play.

For football players who want some contact in the spring to get ready for football in the fall, they could play lacrosse. Lacrosse has contact, conditioning, and it’s a fast-paced game. Lacrosse is the fastest game on foot and the fastest growing sport in America.

If Gonzaga Prep can have lacrosse, why can’t the public schools in Spokane? It just doesn’t make sense. Oregon and Idaho have it. The west side of the state has it. Why can’t the East Side have it? Maybe we can even make a premier lacrosse league. That would be cool.

Who knows, maybe we could have an athlete from Spokane go into Major League Lacrosse. Like Adam Morrison, but for lacrosse. If the GSL wants to be one of the great leagues in Washington, it should get a lacrosse league.
