Concert to offer William Bolcom music
Violin-piano duo American Double will perform works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer William Bolcom in a concert Sunday at Whitworth University.
Violinist Philip Ficsor and pianist Constantine Finehouse are touring in conjunction with the upcoming CD release of “The Bolcom Project,” the first recording of the composer’s complete works for violin and piano.
Bolcom, a Seattle native, won the Pulitzer Prize for music in 1988 for his “12 New Etudes for Piano.”
His wife, mezzo-soprano Joan Morris, attended Gonzaga University in the early 1960s.
Sunday’s concert begins at 3 p.m. in Whitworth’s Music Building Recital Hall, preceded by a pre-concert lecture by Ficsor and Finehouse at 1:30 p.m. Both events are free.
