In brief: Bazaar carries variety of crafts

The Spokesman-Review

The Ladies at Twin Lakes Village will host their 16th Annual Twin Lakes Village Craft Bazaar at Bunkers Restaurant on Saturday. Organizers are holding the bazaar a week earlier this year, to avoid competition with other events, and hope the change will make it easier for more customers to make it to the sale.

The show is semi-juried, in order to assure good quality and variety, and all the crafters come from the village and nearby area. Items available include quilts, wreaths, candles, gourd Santas, painted china, jewelry, ceramics, hand-painted tiles, truffles and chocolates.

Fall, Halloween and Christmas crafts will be available, and some vendors will take orders for holiday deliveries. A lunch will be available to those attending the sale, and baskets will be raffled during the event.

All proceeds go toward student scholarships. Last year, the Twin Lakes Village scholarship program gave three $1,000 scholarships to students at Lakeland, Timberlake and Mountain View Alternative high schools.

Organizer Judy Minter urges people to “come, have some lunch, and bring a friend.” The sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bunkers is at 5416 W. Village Blvd. at Twin Lakes Village in Rathdrum. Admission is free, with a food bank donation. Call 687-1312 for more information.

Rathdrum

Turkey, carnival, bingo at festival

Everyone is invited to attend the St. Stanislaus Fall Festival in Rathdrum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

There will be excitement and family fun for all with bingo, a cake walk, carnival games and a continuous raffle at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church at Second and McCartney.

A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served, and other treats will be offered at Grannie’s Goodie Shoppe.

Cost of the meal is $6 for adults; $3 for children – 6 to 12; and $25 for families.

Post Falls

Time to bag up landscape waste

Because the city of Post Falls does not have an official program for picking up leaves and pine needles, residents are being reminded to dispose of the landscape waste in one of two ways: Either by composting them or by bagging or boxing them to be picked up on garbage collection day.

“Post Falls Sanitation does assess extra charges for bags that do not fit into the garbage ‘toter.’ Charges for extra bags are as follows: $3.75 driver assist fee and $1.69 per bag or box. To avoid extra charges, residents can break up the leaves and needles into smaller bags over a two- or three-week period if they won’t all fit into their weekly garbage,” the city said in a press release.

Do not allow leaves and needles to accumulate on streets and gutters where they can clog storm drains, cause flooding or freezing problems, the city added.
