Middle East seminars

The Rev. Floyd Schneider of Plymouth Congregational Church will lead a series of three seminars on Islam beginning Sunday.

The seminars will run from 7 to 9 p.m. this Sunday and Oct. 21 and 28. Topics will include “Islam: Why the Radicals Hate Us,” “Causes of Middle East Conflict” and “History and Beliefs of Islam.”

Schneider previously was chairman of the Intercultural Studies Department at Emmaus Bible College in Iowa, where he taught Islamic studies.

The public is invited to attend, and there is no admission charge. Refreshments will be served.

Bible conference

Traveling Bible teacher Jerry Benjamin will lead a Bible conference this week at Chattaroy Community Church.

Benjamin, a Christian with a Jewish background, will speak on Jesus Christ as revealer, resurrector, ruler and redeemer.

Discussions will be held at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Anniversary celebration

The Rev. Edward Paup will speak during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman in honor of the church’s 125th anniversary.

Paup was elected bishop in 1996 and has been assigned to the Pacific Northwest since 2004.

An anniversary dinner will be served following the service.

Simpson UMC, at 325 N.E. Maple St., is the oldest church in Pullman.

Family movie

Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church will host a free showing of the family film “The Rocketeer” at 7 p.m. Friday. Refreshments will be available.
