Mt. Hall Elementary honored

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

A Boundary County elementary school was one of seven Idaho schools honored for its showing on the Idaho Standards Achievement Test.

Mt. Hall Elementary, north of Bonners Ferry and about 10 miles south of the Canadian border, is one of the state Board of Education’s “distinguished schools.”

Honored schools must show large reductions in performance gaps for groups such as low-income students and must be in the top 5 percent of schools making adequate yearly progress on the ISAT for two consecutive years. That progress is measured from spring to spring as part of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

“I let all the kids know,” said Angela Armstrong, principal of the 150-student school. “They were quite proud of themselves, and rightly so.”
