College roundup: Sasquatch sweep Wenatchee
Ashley Lupfer’s 14 kills Wednesday helped Community Colleges of Spokane to a 3-0 win in NWAACC East Region volleyball play at Wenatchee Valley College.
Annie Kitchens added 23 digs and three aces for the Sasquatch (26-10, 9-2), who are in second place in the region, behind undefeated Columbia Basin. CCS has won four consecutive conference matches with three remaining.
The Knights fell to 5-12, 3-7.
Men’s soccer
Jay Vela set up the first goal and scored the other as CC Spokane posted a 2-0 non-conference win over North Idaho at SFCC.
The Sasquatch (14-2-1) won their ninth consecutive match and avenged a 3-0 loss to the Cardinals (6-3-2) on Sept. 12. CCS has four conference matches remaining.
Adam Zakrzewski scored the first goal for CCS.
Women’s golf
Senior Kelly Nakashima shot a final-round 3-over-par 75 to place third and lead Idaho to second place at the 16-team Price’s Give ‘Em Five Intercollegiate at Las Cruces, N.M.
Nakashima completed three rounds at 5-over 216, three shots behind Chelsea Stelzmiller of UC Davis.
Oklahoma won the team title with a 902, four shots better than the Vandals. UC Davis placed third.
Sarah Sheffield tied for 17th at 227 to lead Gonzaga, which finished 14th.
