Bulldogs defeat Dons

Becky Jones had 20 kills and 22 digs to lead the Gonzaga volleyball team to a 30-25, 30-32, 30-21, 22-30, 15-10 West Coast Conference win over San Francisco Thursday in San Francisco.

Darcy Carroll had 47 assists and 19 digs to lead the Dons.

GU improved to 15-7 on the season and 3-3 in the WCC. San Francisco fell to 13-8 and 2-4.

Tara West had 15 kills and Maureen Perez and Kelly Hyder added 13 digs each to lead the Cougars.

Washington State fell to 9-13 and 0-8 in the Pac-10 while the Trojans improved to 17-2 and 6-2.

“Hayley Hills had 21 kills to lead four players in double figures as Eastern Washington posted a 29-31, 30-20, 30-26, 32-30 win over host Idaho State in a Big Sky Conference match in Pocatello.

Chenoa Coviare chipped in with 13 kills, Chelsea Ross had 12 and Allison Reinstein added 10 for the Eagles. Ashley Hamilton dished out 43 assists for EWU.

The Bengals were led by Charlee Kinghorn who had 16 kills and 19 digs.

Eastern Washington improved to 7-13 overall and 6-3 in the BSC. Idaho State fell to 5-16 and 1-8.

“Christal Morrison and Stevie Mussie had 13 kills apiece to lead No. 5 Washington to a sweep of No. 7 UCLA in a Pac-10 Conference match in Seattle.

The Huskies extended their home winning streak to a school-record 37 matches.

Ali Daley had 12 kills and 13 digs and Kaitlin Sather added 10 kills to lead the Bruins.

Washington improved to 18-1 overall and 7-1 in the Pac-10.
