Memorial will be dedicated to first newspaper editor
The Spokane Law Enforcement Museum, the Spokane Police Department History Book Committee and the Fairmount Memorial Association will dedicate a new memorial to Spokane pioneer Francis H. Cook.
Cook was the editor and publisher of the first newspaper in town, the Spokan Times. He also owned the first motorized trolley line and owned the land where Manito Park, Wandermere Golf Course and much of the Mt. Spokane recreational area now all sit.
The ceremony will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, 211 N. Government Way, just east of Heritage Funeral Home.
