Prep Football: Bulldogs defeat Scotties

Jared Ledbetter ran for 110 yards on 10 carries and scored three touchdowns to guide Colfax to a 34-12 win over Freeman (4-5, 4-5) on the final night of Northeast A League play Thursday in Colfax.

Ledbetter scored from 36 yards out in the second quarter to give the Bulldogs (6-3, 6-3) a 20-0 halftime lead.

Brandon Saiki threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to put the Scotties on the board.

Elsewhere in the league, Chewelah upset visiting Kettle Falls (5-4, 5-4) to earn its second win of the season. Russ Whitley scored from 1 yard out in the first quarter and Marc Henderson caught a 15-yard pass from quarterback Sam Fisk in the third quarter for the Cougars (2-7, 2-7). Chewelah’s Lucas Fox finished with 136 yards on 27 carries. … Brady Blankevoort threw two touchdowns to guide Lakeside (8-1, 8-1) to a 37-6 win over host Newport (2-7, 2-7). The Eagles cruised after building a 17-0 halftime lead.

“The 1A regional playoffs begin next weekend. NEA No. 1 seed Lakeside will host Tonasket, No. 2 Colfax will host Brewster, No. 3 Kettle Falls travels to play Cascade (Leavenworth) and No. 4 Freeman will visit Cashmere.
