Is there something wrong with my perception of the attitudes of the governing bodies of various sports?

They declare Michael Vick totally out of bounds for promoting dogfighting, even, by early reports, banning him for life from the NFL, but giving a one-game suspension or less to a player who is indicted for domestic abuse?
