Go online to find your take-out grub

GopherNow is a smart Web mashup that tries to answer the question: Right now in my city, what food can I order for delivery?

It’s in alpha stage and, we hope, will gradually evolve and get better. It’s fairly handy and will be useful for folks traveling to new cities.

It helps find all eateries (or a large number of them anyway) that should be open at any given moment. It also lets you select cuisine – Mexican, Thai, Italian – from all available choices.

We tried it on a recent weekday morning in Spokane. The only food places delivering, at 10:30 a.m., were three area pizza franchise outlets. That’s probably accurate but also reflects the limited data the site is tracking.

After GopherNow digs deeper and collects more results, it should be worth tracking.
