Parental Guidance
Excerpts from conversations on the Parents Council blog:
The art of grandparenting: “Some quick advice for grandparents-to-be:
“Go easy on advice. If they want input, they’ll ask.
“Volunteer help but don’t be pushy.
“Offer to come stay after baby is born but don’t insist.
“Try to get the name pronunciation right (my dad still mispronounces my daughter’s name and she’s five!)
“Start a college education fund for your grandchild
“Try to remember what it was like to be a new parent, not one with 20-plus years of experience.” – Posted by Debbie G.
Sick of driving: “As a woman who has to take her four boys to no less than seven therapy appointments a week plus activites (playgroups, enrichment classes) I can sympathize … I just think to myself what a wonderful blessing it is to be driving my kids around …car time can be great for kids opening up on conversation … I like to enjoy the time we spend together and try to to think about how tired I am of driving!” – Posted by Mikayla
