PDF converter is pretty slick

We tried one more new product that quickly converts documents into the popular and useful PDF format.

You can find versions that do the conversion online and e-mail the result. This product, deskPDF, is a shrink- wrapped desktop version that adds a few new wrinkles.

Priced at $30 — at www.docudesk.com — this version lets you add an encrypted layer to keep pages from unwanted intrusion. It also converts files into not just PDFs, but several image formats and other options.

PDFs have lasting value, as they end up looking exactly the same no matter where they’re sent or which operating system is used. Mac users, of course, like to note their OS comes with a PDF creator built-in.
