Mets 3, Braves 2: At Atlanta, backed by David Wright’s two-run homer, Tom Glavine won for the first time in four tries this season against his longtime teammate John Smoltz, as New York beat the Braves.
Nationals 2, Giants 1: At Washington, Ryan Zimmerman hit a one-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Nationals a victory over San Francisco. Chad Cordero pitched the ninth inning for the victory.
Marlins 7, Phillies 6: At Miami, Florida tied a team record with five home runs, including two by Cody Ross and a go-ahead homer by Hanley Ramirez, and overcame a five-run deficit to beat Philadelphia. Jimmy Rollins flied out with the bases loaded to end the game.
Cardinals 3, Reds 2: At St. Louis, Rick Ankiel homered to snap a sixth-inning tie in the Cardinals’ victory over Cincinnati. Braden Looper allowed four hits in seven scoreless innings for the Cardinals.
Brewers 7, Pirates 4: At Milwaukee, Prince Fielder hit his National League-leading 40th home run of the season, Ryan Braun had three hits including a homer and the Brewers defeated Pittsburgh.
Cubs 6, Astros 5: At Chicago, Derrek Lee drove in three runs, including a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning, and the East-leading Cubs rallied to beat Houston. Lance Berkman homered for the Astros.
Rockies 4, Diamondbacks3: At Phoenix, Matt Holliday singled, homered and drove in two runs and Colorado beat Arizona. Josh Fogg scattered seven hits and allowed two runs over six innings with three walks and six strikeouts.
Dodgers 5, Padres 0: At San Diego, Chad Billingsley pitched seven brilliant innings of four-hit ball that carried Los Angeles over San Diego. Billingsley matched his career-high with nine strikeouts while allowing only one baserunner as far as second base.
