Huckleberries : CNN reporter way off mark
In one of the lighter moments since the airport bathroom incident involving U.S. Sen. Larry Craig came to light, CNN reporter Dana Bash ran down a list of potential replacements on the air last week. This, according to S-R Opinion Editor Doug Floyd. First, she mentioned Lt. Gov. Jim Risch, pointing out that he’d served as governor. Then, she raised the name of U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson, noting that he was a current Idaho congressman. She didn’t say anything about newbie Congressman Bill Sali and mentioned Secretary of Interior Dirk Kempthorne, a former U.S. senator, fourth. So who was third (w/a CNN photo included)? Another Idaho “Republican” – Larry LaRocco. On the East Coast, of course, Democrat LaRocco would be conservative enough to be a Republican … Huckleberries hears – that one of the Kootenai County Repub faithful got a laugh in the men’s john during the Central Committee meeting Tuesday. Knowing that an elected, socially conservative elephant was in the next stall, he slowly started tapping his foot … Paula Marano, of the Coeur d’Alene Education Association, nailed the introductions of school board members at a Lake City High assembly last week, until she came to Trustee Sid Frederickson. She introduced him as “Sid Smith.” Smith, of course, is the Idaho spokesman for short-timer Sen. Craig – and probably wouldn’t mind being in Frederickson’s shoes for a few weeks.
